Build your life on The Rock

Through life’s trials, we often discover how we have ruined ourselves by doing things our way. But God’s grace intervenes in our disasters. Jesus says He has forgiven your sins, and offers to transform your heart. He will lift you out of the ruins, and set you on a secure foundation. In Jesus Christ we find true joy, delight, and contentment. In Him is the way of life everlasting.

Vacation

I encourage you vacationers (me included), to look for God’s handiwork in creation and keep a look out for Jesus, especially when something seems to go wrong such as botched reservations, car trouble, wrong turns, etc. Let yourself be astounded by the presence of Jesus. He is always found in the Word of God. Let those around you be astounded by His presence in you. “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Corinthians 3:17).

Memorial Day Reflection

And so, as you take a weekend away from the normal routines of life, enjoy your family. Enjoy your rest. Enjoy your camper. Enjoy your boat. Enjoy some hamburgers and brats. But please, please take a moment to remember. Remember the soldiers who gave their lives. Remember your freedom. Remember your heritage. It’s a fear where they weren’t satisfied with just knowledge, but planned out their travel and life in order to honor the Lord.

My prayer is that the number of magi would grow in 2021 as more and more fear the Lord and wisdom abounds. Wisemen still seek Him!

What If?

I encourage you this year to reconsider your Christmas activities. Advent is a beautiful time to begin meaningful routines as a family. This could look like times of family devotions. There are numerous advent devotionals available. This could also mean looking for ways to share with our neighbors and friends. Take time to invite them over or share some baked goods. Also remind them of God’s greatest gift to us! What if? I pray this Christmas will be the opportunity of a lifetime for my family and yours to grow closer to Jesus.

To mask or not to mask; is that really a queston?

I am very grateful to be serving a congregation that is not seriously taking sides over the question of mask or no mask. I know that people have differing opinions about the efficacy of wearing masks and that there is conflicting information given, even from the experts. But churches are experiencing deep divisions based upon this one issue. Obviously, God does not want this.
