Intern Seth Moan

Christ the King is pleased to welcome an intern from the Association Free Lutheran Theological Seminary. Seth Moan and his wife Cassie will be with CTK from June 2019 to May of 2020. The following is an introduction that was published in our newsletter.

Greetings, members and friends of Christ the King!

My wife Cassie & I have been so blessed already by the warm welcome we have received from your congregation. We have been especially encouraged by those of you who have gone the extra mile by bringing us food and helping us unload our moving truck. Thank you! As we begin this year of internship here in Pipestone, we thought it would be appropriate to share a little bit about our background.

I (Seth) grew up in Corcoran, MN, which is a suburb northwest of Minneapolis. As the middle of five boys, I am an avid sports fan with basketball being my favorite to play and watch. I also enjoy music having played piano from a young age and later on picking up guitar. After graduating from high school, I attended the Association Free Lutheran Bible School in Plymouth, MN, where my dad, Pr. Jerry Moan, teaches. It was during my time at AFLBS that I sensed God leading me into pastoral ministry. After AFLBS, I attended Crown College in St. Bonifacius, MN, for one year, and that is where I received my bachelor’s degree in Biblical and Theological Studies. I then began my seminary training at the Association Free Lutheran Theological Seminary (AFLTS). Having completed three years of in-class studies (by God’s grace!), I am now beginning my year of internship.

Cassie was born and raised in Faith, SD, which is located in the northwest part of the state. She is the youngest of five, and her parents live on a large ranch where they raise Black Angus cattle. Besides helping her parents on the ranch, Cassie enjoyed participating in a variety of sporting activities including volleyball, basketball, and track. In her senior year, Cassie’s basketball team won the state tournament in South Dakota. Through the influence of AFLBS summer teams and family members, Cassie decided to attend AFLBS after graduating from high school. Following her two years at AFLBS, Cassie moved to Hagerstown, MD, with a friend where they served at a church through the AFLC’s parish building program. After a year in Maryland, Cassie moved back to the Midwest and began pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Crown College. It was there that Cassie and I became close friends and our relationship developed.

Cassie and I were engaged in February 2017 and were married later that same year in July. Together we have enjoyed leading worship, teaching a college-age Sunday school class, and coaching the AFLBS women’s basketball team. We are so thankful that God brought us together and has given us both a heart to serve Him wherever He calls us. For those who have not heard the news yet, we are excited to share that we are expecting our first child in December. We appreciate your prayers as we anticipate this new addition to our family! “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures  forever!” (Psalm 118:1)
